About the university

Founded in 1956, Chongqing Medical University (CQMU) is a state-funded institution with over 60 years of history. Initially established by relocating part of Shanghai First Medical College, now known as Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University, CQMU has developed into a leading medical university in China. It is jointly supported by the Ministry of Education, National Health Commission, and Chongqing Municipal Government.

CQMU offers a wide range of academic programs from undergraduate to postgraduate and post-doctoral levels. The university is recognized for its pioneering research, including the development of the High Intensity Focused Ultrasonic Therapy System (HIFU) and China’s first Diagnostic Kit for Novel Coronavirus IgM/IgG Antibody, which earned CE Mark Certification in the EU.

Entry Requirements

1-Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport or citizenship certificate held for at least 4 years. They should have resided abroad for at least 2 of the past 4 years (as of April 30 of the admission year). Residency abroad for over 9 months within a year count as one year, as per passport entry and exit stamps.

Candidates must be in good physical and mental health, have no history of misconduct, and comply with Chinese laws and CQMU regulations.

Applicants should be aged 18 to 25 and in good physical and mental health.

They must have sufficient financial resources to cover their studies and living expenses in China.

A high school diploma (or equivalent) is required, with a background in science, including subjects like Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math, and English. Detailed admission criteria apply.

  2. Application Form: Complete the form for international students via the CQMU international student information management system.
  3. Foreigner Physical Examination Form: A completed form in English, covering all listed items, with a valid result for 6 months. The original should be kept by the applicant.
  4. Non-Criminal Record: Issued by the local public security, valid for at least 6 months.
  5. Bank Deposit Proof: Evidence of sufficient funds to cover the first academic year.
  6. Academic Documents: Notarized graduate certificates, degree certificates, transcripts, and, if applicable, a dissertation. All documents must be in Chinese or English, with notarized translations if in another language.
