GANNAN MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

Gannan Medical University (GMU), located in Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province, is a prominent medical institution founded in 1941 as the Ganxian Advanced Midwifery Vocational School. It transformed into Ganxian Advanced Medical Vocational School in 1947, then Gannan Medical Technical School in 1958. By 1988, it had upgraded to an undergraduate university and received authorization for master’s degrees in 2013. In 2019, GMU began offering doctoral programs in collaboration with Suzhou University and China Medical University and was approved as a key unit for doctoral degrees in 2021.

The university encompasses the Zhanggong and Huangjin Campuses, covering over 2,102 Mu with a total value of 0.329 billion Yuan in teaching and research equipment. GMU’s library holds 1,434,100 books and 2,315,600 electronic books. It operates three affiliated hospitals and eight non-affiliated hospitals, providing comprehensive medical training. GMU serves approximately 15,926 students and employs 936 full-time faculty members, including 599 senior professionals and 311 doctoral degree holders.

GMU offers 30 undergraduate majors, including distinguished programs in Clinical Medicine and Nursing. It also features 2 national first-class majors and 11 provincial first-class majors. The university is known for its strong research output, with key laboratories and provincial research platforms. GMU has received multiple national and provincial awards for teaching and research, including a National Science and Technology Progress Award.

In addition to its domestic achievements, GMU has established international partnerships with over 20 universities and research institutions worldwide. It began recruiting international students in 2005 and has received high praise for its training programs. Looking ahead, GMU aims to continue its growth as a high-level medical university with distinctive features, aligned with national and regional development strategies.
